U-19 FIL World Championship follow-up: Murray calls title an 'unbelievable feeling'
From PhillyLacrosse.com: Allie Murray said the excitement of winning a world championship is not easy to express. Allie Murray relished her experrience as a member of the FIL world champion US squad. "It's really exciting, but there
is nothing (I can say) to describe it," she said. "Everyone was incredibly excited and happy that we won the world championship. "It's an unbelievable feeling."
Murray, a recent Downingtown East graduate, was the backup goalie for Team USA on its run to the Federation of International Lacrosse U-19 World Championship at Hannover, Germany. The US squad won its fourth straight crown by defeating rival Australia, 14-11, on Saturday. Murray was joined on the US team by captain Taylor Trimble of Episcopal Academy. Murray played approximately one half in every game except the title game when Kelsey Duryea went the distance and was a standout in the second half (seven of her nine saves). Still, Murray was a key factor as the United States dominated pool play with a 5-0 record. The US allowed just 5.6 goals per game in the eight wins. "It was an awesome experience, getting to meet people from all different countries," said Murray. "It was everything I thought it would be – even more!"
